Writers' Invitational Winter 2010

Topic: Favorite Books

Imagine this, you've just completed your novel (as if you haven't imagined that a hundred times!). Now your publisher asks you to write a brief prologue outlining the outstanding fiction that led you to this historic moment. This is your chance to list your favorite book(s) and describe what they've meant to you and do it in 300 words or less. We're celebrating writers this year at Copperfield's Books and look forward to sharing what writers read with other writers. We'll post your entries on this page. The prize? A $100 Copperfield's Books gift card. The winner will be announced March 1, 2010. All entries must be in by February 26 to be considered.

You're invited to join us in our Read to Write Workshops starting in March. You can join one of the groups forming in Sebastopol and Petaluma or read along at home. Click below for more information:

How to Enter

Submit your entries via email as an attachment in Microsoft Word format (.doc). Please tell us the city you live in and email address where we can reach you (the email address will not be published). On the piece itself, you can remain anonymous or include your first or first and last names. Please specify which you prefer in your email. We will include the city with the piece. Entries will be posted weekly.

Entrants whose pieces are selected for posting will receive 20 Bonus Points on their Copperfield’s Rewards Card. We’ll email you info on how to claim your points after posting.

At the end of the entry period (February 26th), we will include all posted entrants in a drawing to win $100 gift certificate redeemable in any of our stores or online.

We look forward to reading your entry!
